Our 2016 AGM

Some 15 members assembled at Effinham Golf club for our AGM and the draft minutes are below. Following the AGM there was a "bring & Buy" sale of used fishing tackle.

Minutes of the Annual General Meeting of Salmon & Trout Conservation UK, Surrey Branch held at Effingham Golf Club, Effingham, Surrey on Monday 7th November 2016.

John Dumbrell on behalf of the Committee welcomed all Members and guests to the Annual General Meeting of the Branch.

Apologies for Absence
Apologies for absence were received from 8 members. There were 15 Members present.

  1. Minutes of the 2015 Annual General Meeting
    The Minutes of the 2015 Annual General Meeting having been circulated were accepted unanimously and were duly signed by the Chairman.

  2. Matters Arising.


  1. Chairman’s Report.
    John Dumbrell presented his report on the Branch’s activities over the past year. He mentioned the drop off in branch membership had slowed and our current numbers were 290... Edenbridge had been a success with good weather and 53 adults and youngsters being given Fly Fishing instruction. The instructors and branch members who helped on both days were thanked. The Chairman also mentioned that Flanchford Fishery had 19 members and this year had made a small profit. The Chairman also mentioned that, due to falling numbers attending the evening meetings  in 2017 these would be limited to February and March together with the AGM in November.. He thanked the committee members for their help over the year

  2.  Financial Report.
    The financial report was presented by the Chairman, the accounts having been distributed to those present as the Treasurer was unavailable. The accounts were duly accepted by all those present. Examined accounts would be presented at the February Meeting.

  3. Election of other Officers and the Branch Committee for 2017
    The Officers and Committee were elected as follows: Brandon Davies, Chairman; John & Jean Dumbrell, Membership Secretary; Committee Members - Stewart Allum, Mike Bryne. Hugh Grover had agreed to run the Families Day in 2017. There were no volunteers for the offices of Treasurer and Secretary or Branch Organiser and the incoming Chairman will be looking for volunteers from the membership. None of the posts is particularly onerous.

  4. The Bob Morgan Draw.
    This was won by Trevor Coxon, the prize being two rods on our Branch Evening at Ashmere in 2017

  5. Introduction. The Chairman asked the incoming Chairman to say a few words to introduce himself to the Membership. Brandon Davies outlined his thoughts for the future placing particular emphasis on Conservation and involving schools and young persons..

  6. AOB There were no other items raised from the floor and the Chairman closed the meeting with many thanks to those attending.


There was a display of Fishing Tackle as part of a “Bring and Buy” session and a number of items changed hands although there were more sellers than buyers!

The meeting closed at 8.15pm.
